Frequently Asked Questions
The system is designed for lateral and service line relining across a wide diameter range. UV XAIR is capable of curing pipes from 3″–24″ (DN70–DN600) using a single UV light head, covering most lateral and service line work without swapping heads or carrying additional curing hardware. The UV Relining system is developed for renovating wastewater pipes in dimensions from 100mm to 250mm. This flexibility allows contractors to handle typical lateral applications while also accommodating larger diameters when required.
The system is suitable for relining all common wastewater pipe materials. The material of the existing installation does not matter, since a new pipe with its own structural integrity is created inside the old pipe. This makes the system suitable for use in pipes made of concrete, iron, plastic, and similar materials.
The system is purpose-built for laterals and service lines, with the flexibility to handle larger diameters when needed. It is ideal for contractors who want precision, maneuverability, and efficiency rather than oversized systems designed for long mainline runs.
The system is designed to handle challenging real-world pipe geometry. It is capable of navigating multiple 90-degree bends, even in 100mm (4″) pipes. UV XAIR can navigate 3″ (DN70) 90-degree bends, making it well-suited for tight lateral conditions where access and alignment are not ideal. This capability is enabled by the design and construction of the pushrod and light head.
Cure speed depends on pipe diameter, liner thickness, and job conditions. UV XAIR can reach cure speeds of up to approximately 330 ft/hr (100 m/hr) in 4″ (DN100) pipe. The UV Relining system typically cures at speeds of 30–40 meters per hour when installing a 150mm liner. Compared to traditional epoxy resin systems, UV relining solutions can be between two and five times faster. Installers can control speed, pressure, and temperature in real time to ensure consistent results.
After a completed renovation, the pipe regains its static load-bearing capacity, waterproof integrity, and a smooth internal surface comparable to installing a new pipe through excavation and replacement. The finished liner forms a new structurally independent pipe inside the existing host pipe.
The finished installation can achieve a strength increase of approximately 40–100% compared to the original pipe, depending on application and liner configuration. The relined pipe provides long-term structural performance suitable for wastewater applications.
An installation completed with the UV relining system has an expected lifespan of approximately 50 years.
The system is designed to be intuitive and easy to operate. A touch screen or tablet-based interface guides installers through setup, inversion, and curing. This reduces training time and helps ensure consistent results across crews. Hands-on training and ongoing support are also provided.
The system automatically documents the entire installation process. Recorded data includes video feed, curing speed, temperature, pressure, distance, installation settings, and time. Documentation is stored on removable media such as a Compact Flash memory card, and a clear summary is generated at the end of each installation to support quality control, reporting, and customer confidence.
No. The integrated video feed is used to locate the light head inside the liner during insertion, inspect the liner before curing, and document the curing process for quality control purposes. It is not intended to replace a dedicated inspection camera.
Yes. Liner impregnation can be performed at the job site. However, the procedure must take place in a UV-protected environment to prevent premature curing.
No. Installation without a preliner is possible. Due to the construction of the liner and the chemistry used, there is no excess resin that risks flowing into connecting pipes. The chemistry is not affected by contact with water, making installation without a preliner safe.
Yes. The chemistry used in the liner is not affected by contact with water, making it possible to install the liner without a preliner even in pressing groundwater conditions.
Yes. Open-end installation can be performed by closing the end of the liner and cutting it off after curing, or by using a transparent calibration hose or a glue-end. The use of a calibration hose or glue-end is recommended.
During liner inversion, pressure typically ranges between 0.2 and 0.4 bar. During installation and curing, pressure is generally around 0.4 bar.
The system operates on a standard 220V, 10A power supply. Compressor requirements are approximately 1000 liters per minute at 6–8 bar. A minimum 3/4-inch air hose is recommended. Mist lubricators should not be used. In hot environments above 25°C, an air cooler is recommended to increase LED panel lifespan. An air dryer is not essential but is recommended.
UV XAIR is built with affordable, field-repairable components. Key parts like the light head and umbilical are designed so contractors can service them on-site if needed — without waiting on factory support or expensive replacements.
The pushrod length is 70 meters. By using two units simultaneously and curing from both ends, the installation length can be doubled.
Yes. The liner can expand by up to 50%, allowing transitions such as from 100mm to 150mm or from 150mm to 225mm in a single installation.
The system enables faster and more profitable installations through high curing speeds and efficient workflows. It uses a one-component chemistry that reduces stress and waste. It can navigate multiple 90-degree bends, provides automatic documentation, delivers a stronger end result, features affordable and field-repairable components, and includes an easy-to-use touch screen interface designed for real-world jobsite efficiency.
